Tagline Roulette - Volume I, Edition 25 - "Paint"

I have a list of words, currently numbered at 142, and each week I go to an online random number generator to get...(Wait for it!)...a  randomly generated number! I use this number to point me to the tag word that I'll use to create a pool of images by Etsy POE Team members.  It is this pool from which I will select the images that will populate that week's feature.  It should be noted that the "tag word" in no way dictates a theme, it is merely part of the search criteria used to create the image pool.

This week our random word turned out to be "Paint" which produced a seemingly paltry list of a mere 3 pages, and a more that sufficient 85 listings.

Originally, my target in this feature was to put together a collection of 10 images or so, but I've never been able to hold the line here at only "10 images", so I decided to lift the target number and just go with what I feel.  Ten images is now my minimum, and my maximum depends on the number of images in the pool and how I feel about things.  I don't want to feature so many images that folks might get bored looking at them, and once I start approaching 20 images, posting them starts to get to be a drag, so now my limit falls somewhere between "10" and "folks might get bored / this is getting to be a drag".

This week we ended up with a collection of 19 images.  Please take a look; I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

Oh, and as always, please feel free to send me your word suggestions; the list is by no means limited to 142.

Peace,

Steve

Sepia Sunday on the M45

Cait Wade is the force behind C. Wade Photography.  She has a lot of fun with photographing in low-light situations; and why not?  She's good at it!  Check it out for yourself at her Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/pleyades.

Chicago's Pritzker Pavilion and Smurfit-Stone

But, strictly speaking, plugging her shop isn't the purpose of this post (not that there's anything wrong with that!).  Actually, what I'd like to plug instead is her blog at http://messierobject45.blogspot.com/.  She has this weekly feature called "Sepia Sunday" where she invites the submission of images of the monochromatic sepia variety (Imagine that!) to be judged by her; the winner to receive a hunk of real estate on the sidebar of her blog for a week.  Very cool!

What's my interest in this?  Well, if you haven't figured out by now that I'm a pretty big POE booster, then you haven't been paying attention.  Aside from that, I submitted a couple of images last week and one of them was selected as the winner...Yea!

Wood Carver's Hands

Here's the rub:  there were only 3 entrants, and since I plan on submitting again, I'd like to see some more competition.

So, how about it?  Do you have what it takes?  Do you have an image fitting the criteria that you think a lot of?  Well, come on then, let's see what you've got!

Alrighty then!  I'll see you Sunday!

Worth a Look (The View From The "Big End") - Vol I Edition 33

If you're new here, welcome!  Here's the deal: I enjoy looking at photographs (I'm a photographer...go figure!), and on a regular basis I'll go wandering through the listings for the Photographers Of Etsy to do just that...look at photographs. I frequent the "Big End" because I want to catch them before they expire, give them another chance at discovery if you will.  Here are just a few of the images I found this week toward the big end of the list that caught my eye.  Enjoy!

(Note:  The "Big End" is what I call the the oldest of the POE listings. To get there, do a search on Etsy under "All Items" for "poe team".  You will get a list of probably somewhere around 400 to 500 listings; the "Big End" is the end of the list with the highest numbers, and these are the ones about to drop off and expire.)

Tagline Roulette - Volume I, Edition 24 - "Rose"

I have a list of words, currently numbered at 142, and each week I go to an online random number generator to get...(Wait for it!)...a  randomly generated number! I use this number to point me to the tag word that I'll use to create a pool of images by Etsy POE Team members.  It is this pool from which I will select the images that will populate that week's feature.  It should be noted that the "tag word" in no way dictates a theme, it is merely part of the search criteria used to create the image pool.

This week our random word turned out to be "Rose" which produced a list of 12 pages, and 462 listings.  It's a challenge to reduce that many fine images to a relative handful, but that, as they say, is the nature of the beast.

Originally, my target in this feature was to put together a collection of 10 images or so, but since I don't believe I've ever managed to limit myself to only "10 images", I decided to lift the target number and just go with what I feel.

This week we ended up with a collection of 25 images.  Please take a look; I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

Oh, and as always, please feel free to send me your word suggestions; the list is by no means limited to 142.

Steve
